Why So Many Blending Sponges?!

Recently, I was hired as a cosmetic manager (go me)! Now this post is not to brag about my position, but rather to point out a few things I've noticed now that I'm back in the makeup game. Why are there SO MANY different blending options? I counted 11 different options and stood there, shook. So of course I did everyone a favour and researched each option to give anyone reading a proper explanation and also to end my curiosity.

In order of appearance above:

2 in 1 Applicator: This blender has one side that is silicone and one that is a sponge. The silicone part works for application because of how well it glides, while the sponge would be used for buffing and blending.

Body Blender: This blender is solely sponge, but large for blending the entire body. This would be ideal for special effects makeup, body contouring, tattoo coverage or covering any large surface area.

Finger Tip Sponge: These sponge based applicators would be ideal for someone who feels that they do not have enough control by holding the sponge in the palm of their hand (or someone obsessed with finger painting?). These sponges each have holes in the bottom to cover the entire finger.

Copper Ion Sponge: Want a longer lasting sponge? Copper ion helps kill bacteria in the sponge meaning less bacteria transfer to your face. This sponge applies make the same as a normal blending sponge.

Vented Sponge: As opposed to killing bacteria by adding an ingredient (copper ion), this sponge is vented, allowing for a quicker dry and more breathability which would also reduce growing bacteria culture.

Blending Sponge: The OG beauty blending sponge for smooth foundation, zero brush streaks and a buffed look. Available in too many colours.

Ellipse Sponge: This sponge offers a flat surface cut like an ellipse shape, similar to a triangle blender if you are not used to (or do not prefer) rounded sponges.

Micro-Mini Sponges: This set of mini sponges is not only cute (and arguably novelty) but is ideal for small areas like the corner of the eye, nostrils, under-eye concealer, or if you are only doing coverage of a small spot.

All-in-one Sponge: This sponge, similar to the ellipse has a flat end but a triangle, not rounded, tip on one end meaning you get the best of both angles for easy coverage.

Set of 3 Sponges: Three smaller versions of the OG blending sponge so you always have a replacement on hand or some for on-the-go.

Silicone Applicator: We've come full circle. The silicone applicator smooths foundation and glides it around the face effortlessly.

Hopefully this comprehensive look at beauty sponges helps you make your next informed decision on how you want to apply your makeup...until they release more.

XOXO,

Cropberry
